Captions

Captions are a text version of a video or audio’s spoken words and relevant non-speech sounds, displayed on a screen to help people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing understand the content in their original language, those with neurodiversity, or those whose first language is not English. Common types include closed captions (CC), which can be turned on or off by the viewer, and open captions, which are permanently embedded in the video. In addition to dialogue, captions can include speaker identification, important sound effects, and descriptions of music.
